What your choice of wine says about you

The wines you choose can say a lot about your personality, whether you outgoing or introverted, traditional or adventurous, a trend setter or follower of fashion.   What does your choice of wine say about you?

Cabernet Sauvignon – Someone who enjoys the finer things in life with a touch of sophistication. Show man leadership qualities, determined and decisive.

Champagne – Connoisseur and probably a party animal. Social, confident, constantly checking your social media network to make sure everyone knows where you are and what you are doing.

Chardonnay –  Someone who orders a glass of chardonnay without even looking at the wine list -elegant, powerful, self assured.

Gewurtztraminer –  Adventurous wine drinker, because with a name like that it has just got to be good.

Godello – You choose this wine because it sounds like a place would like it could be a religious experience.

Malbec – Someone who likes meat and dreams of being a ‘Gaucho’.

Mencia – Choosing this grape would indicate that you are a person who is knowledgeable about wine, unless of course you come from Bierzo where Mencia is grown.

Merlot –  The opposite of a Pinot Noir drinker.

Pinot Noir – a hint of sophistication, elegant and discreet dresser,  bit of George Clooney, probably likes reading art magazines.

Riesling – Stands out from others, distinctive, loved by many yet whose qualities are often not appreciated.

Rioja  Always choosing Rioja because it is the safe and traditional option on the wine list. A good team player who will follow the crowd.

Rosé – Serious ‘chick flic’ type of wine.  Girlfriends together, enjoying a girls night, new to wine and want something easy.

Sauvignon Blanc – read about it in a woman’s magazine as ‘the next big thing’, so want to try it.   Also, people who are self assured and like the distinctive style of this wine.

Sherry  Bit of a Hipster. Sherry is the ‘cool’ wine among younger trend setters in London and New York.

Shiraz – Someone who likes to be different, a keen traveller to far away places.  Adventurous, out doors type.

Tempranillo – A comfortable choice.  Reliable, traditionalist. A loyal friend.

Txakoli  – someone who spent a summer in the Basque country as a teenager and likes to reminisce.

Torrontes –  Outstanding for it’s aromatic and floral character masking a hint of sharpness. Is this like you?

Next time you choose a wine, what does it say about you?
