The more you practise the following simple steps the more you will enjoy the your wine.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Firstly,<b>\u00a0how does it look?<\/b> Seems simple enough but in just a few seconds you are already assimilating useful information.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><b>Colour &#8211;\u00a0<\/b>just by tilting the glass and looking at the colours that form an arc you can get an idea of the age and condition of the wine To start with the age;\u00a0 Bright purple\/violet or bluish colours tend to indicate a young wine.\u00a0 Brownish\/earthy\/orange tinges indicate a wine that is older.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Viscosity <\/b>or wine legs &#8211; \u00a0After swirling the glass look at\u00a0the &#8216;legs&#8217; on the sides of the glass.\u00a0 These indicate the amount of alcohol and or residual sugar present in the wine.\u00a0 The thicker the \u2018wine legs\u2019 suggests a wine with a higher level of alcohol.\u00a0 A sweet white wine with a high level of natural residual sugar will be notable by the clear liquid clinging to the side of the glass.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Opacity &#8211;\u00a0<\/b>can be an indicator of age, grape variety and body of the wine.\u00a0 \u00a0 Some grape varieties, such as Merlot have a deep quite opaque colour while a Pinot Noir can be quite pale in comparison.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3832\" src=\"http:\/\/thewineplace.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Man-sniffing-red-wine.jpg\" alt=\"Man-sniffing-red-wine\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>What does it Smell like? <\/b>&#8211; this is really important part of the tasting process to often overlooked by wine drinkers.\u00a0 Swirl the wine, put you nose into the glass and inhale sharply.\u00a0 This takes a bit of practise but in time will become second nature.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Notice the <b>primary aromas,<\/b> such as berries, fruits and flowers.<\/li>\n<li>Then the <b>secondary aromas<\/b> such as the oak, vanilla, baking yeast, smokiness.<\/li>\n<li>It\u2019s normal at first to think \u2018I don\u2019t notice anything, just smells like wine\u2019.\u00a0 It could be that the wine is fairly bland, however, this is not something you will find with the wines from <a href=\"http:\/\/TheWinePlace.es\"><b>TheWinePlace.es<\/b><\/a>, we strive to find wines with varietal and regional character for you to discover.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>How does it taste?\u00a0 <\/b>Take time to slurp the wine, let your pallet swim in the wine to get all the flavours and sensations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Two key elements to bear in mind here &#8211; flavour and structure.<\/b><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Fruit flavours such as strawberry, blackcurrants, lichee, citrus fruits.<\/li>\n<li>Structure is determined by the body, acidity, sweetness and tannins.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Did you enjoy it?
